A back up plan for your website or blog is critical for business owners or professional bloggers.
If you have a WordPress website or blog, it’s a safe bet that you’ve spent time or money, (perhaps both) to get the design the way you want, the plugins and settings that will work best for you, and all of the original content that you’ve uploaded over time. Now think of how upsetting it would be to find your site’s design and content has disappeared or changed. Yes, I’ve had that primal scream moment when this happened to me, but now I have a plan to back up my site/blog on a regular basis and so should you. Why? So you can get your site/blog restored, as quickly as possible, if your site is hacked or if it breaks.

Stuff happens! You can easily break your website if you upload a corrupted file. Sometimes your site will break when updating the WordPress core files, themes, and plugins or if you make changes to certain files, other than the Pages and Posts. And, of course, there’s always the chance that your website will be hacked. Backup Buddy is the best solution for the problems created by all of these issues. Back Up Solutions
There are several ways to back up a WordPress website or blog, either manually or with a plugin. You can use FTP to back up your website but it will NOT backup your SQL databases. You’ll have to go into your CPanel to run a backup of your databases or export your databases via PHPMyAdmin. These are manual processes that you’ll need to perform to back- up your entire site and they can be somewhat intimidating for someone not familiar with these techy processes. There are several WordPress backup plugin solutions on the market today. Backup Buddy is the solution that works best for me. I find it more efficient than backing up the entire site via FTP and CPanel for two reasons. With Backup Buddy, I have the capability to:
- Back up my entire website, including the SQL databases, from within my WordPress dashboard.
- Schedule my backups to occur automatically and send the backup files via email to be stored on my computer or transmit them to offsite storage such as Dropbox, Amazon S3, etc. Backup Buddy users are currently given 1GB of storage on Stash, a customer offsite storage option to help manage your backups.

Backup Buddy in Website Development
Backup Buddy is one of the primary plugins that I install in all of the websites I build. I use it to back up sites that I design while they are in development. I want to make sure all of my work can be restored if the site breaks. It’s quick and easy to restore the site and I don’t lose all of the time I’ve spent in creating the site to that point. It also saves me time and effort when migrating (moving) the client’s website from the development domain to the client’s domain.
