Create Social Media Goals to Help Meet your Business Goals

A good Social Media Marketing Plan requires clear goals that you can measure. Focus on creating SMART goals – those are goals that are:

S   specific and significant
measurable
A  attainable, achievable
 realistic and relevant
T   time-based and trackable

Examples of SMART goals for your Social Media Plan might include:

If your goal is to use social media to get more exposure for brand, your Social Media goal might be: To Increase your Facebook Page Likes by 100 more Fans in 30 days.

If you goal is to use social media is for lead generation, your Social Media goal might be: To increase the number of email subscribers by 100 in 60 days.

Once you’ve identified your social media goals, you can begin to plan what you will need to do to reach those goals. These are your objectives and they will include a variety of tactics (a list of essential actions and tasks) you will need to do to reach your goals.

Once you’ve put your Plan in place, you’ll need to review your Metrics on an on-going, consistent basis. Adjustments will be needed if your tactics – the actions and tasks you initially defined, are not performing as expected to reach your goals.

Your social media marketing plan is a living document to use as a tool to keep you on track to work towards meeting your goals.
